Asterz Build #6 Released!

Posted On December 7th, 2008 by Slasher:

After nearly a year of an untouched Asterz project sitting on my hard drive collecting dust, yet essentially still gleaming with potential, I (Slasher) have decided to resume work on Asterz for the PlayStation Portable once again. I vow to finish what I first started and eventually provide an official Version 1 release dedicated to the homebrew scene.

The last official release of this project was Build #5b and was released on November 29th, 2007. I regrettably lost interest in this project and hadn't bothered touching it until just last Tuesday.

So just in case you're unaware of what Asterz actually is, here's a brief description:

"Asterz is an asteroids game in which you have to dodge and destroy practically anything that flies your way. This game is going to be constantly updated and made the way YOU want it to be.

Tell me things to add. Weapons, powerups, enemies, anything. Tell me if you want physics tweaked, anything at all tweaked.

This game is going to be molded and shaped the way you want it to. This is a community project and I hope people actually choose to contribute."

So with all of this being said, I have now formally released Build #6! You can acquire all of the released builds on my development website located here.

Texer

Posted On November 20th, 2008 by Slasher:

Texer has long been in development since February of this year ('08). Most of the work so far was done during the better half of February/March, and just hasn't really been touched since... Well I've decided to crank up the inner developer engine within me and have decided to begin development on this game once again. In addition to this project, there's a couple of other projects I plan to pursue further after the initial release of Texer.

Texer puts you in control of "YOU" - a floating word in an unprecedented universe. Your main goal is to essentially survive by pounding incoming hostile words with several different types of weaponry. It is a side scrolling shooter meant to bring something fresh to the scene. Some of the following words may sound familiar to you, "LOL", "WTF", "STFU", "ZOMG" and "LULZ" are among some of the words that you will encounter in your endeavers. In addition to these insignificant 'petty' words, you will encounter a slew of large bosses willing to do anything in order to stop you from reaching your goal.

With all of these baddies out to stop you, there will be 4 distinct varieties of shooting that will be made available at your dispense. The bullets float around your "YOU" character until fired, which makes for a unique strategy involved when firing. For example, if a bullet is floating in a circular motion around "YOU", and is headed upwards when fired, it will be fired in an upwards motion. Movement to direct bullets is key in landing accurate shots. There's "Normal" bullets, typical infinite shooting bullets with low damage; "Scatter" bullets, shooting three moderately powered bullets at once meant to deal damage in a large area; "Seeking" bullets, highly damaging bullets that will track it's target relentlessly until it's destroyed; And lastly, the ultimate weapon, "Zap" bullets which will wipe the screen free of any hostile enemies.

Stay tuned!

Lift Development

Posted On July 2nd, 2007 by Greg:

Continuing in his trends of developing quality games and PSP applications, waywardson has already begun to work on "Lift Preview," a special release that should get some hype going for our futuristic racing game, "Lift." Here is a high detail concept image that I have worked with him personally to create, as part of creating a high detail game design document:

I know you are all intensely anticipating this release, but you'll have to bear the excitement, as you did with his last release.

In other news, the rest of Team Duck has been hard at work on the development of the full version of Lift, which is currently set to be released August 20th, as part of the neoflash summer coding competition. Here are some early development screenshots:

You Guys Are Morons

Wow. I never should have give you guys the post password.

In other news, the game DEFCON by Introversion Software was released recently and its pretty awesome. Check out the demo on steam or at their site. I haven't done much work lately because of school and this game.

Development Update

Posted On September 30th, 2006 by XiGency:

We've been working hard lately, but most effort has been poured into the website. As soon as I'm done with "bl0g Software," I'll get back on track with "Fysikz," "Rift," and "Wedge." We currently have 4 ship designs for WedgeOut (and we're still looking for modelers and graphic artists):

Rift is still in design phases, but WedgeOut is coming along pretty good. I wont be able to work as much as I'd like to work, because of school and some other things, but we'll definately meet our deadlines and goals for Rift. Fysikz, Shadowz, and Echoes (Rift's Physics, Graphics, and Sound engines) are really going to push the PSP's hardware and advance the homebrew scene.

New bl0g Software

Posted On September 29th, 2006 by XiGency:

I've written my own PHP & mySQL software (called "bl0g Software") to take care of News posting on the site. When I fix all the bugs and add a few more features, I might release it in the downloads section. I plan to add a comments system and set it up so that news spans multiple pages, as well as make the admin pages more functional, easier to use, and better looking. For example, currently you need to use myAdmin to edit posts, which is a bit of a hastle.
